Volunteer Teaching Montezuma, Costa Rica

We accept global volunteers to teach English and extra-curricular classes to local children and adults and to participate in Spanish Language Immersion. Our program is non-profit, volunteer-run and offers classes to local elementary school, preschool, young adults and adults for free. Come and share your talents, participate in positive cross-cultural exchange, study Spanish and have a blast!

In Costa Rica, July is known as "el veranillo" or little summer. Proyecto Montezuma organizes an el veranillo program for local kids during their school vacation. Local elementary and preschool kids practice basic literacy and numeracy skills with Martha, volunteer from Florida.

Dia, volunteer from California, organized a wonderful HulaHoop workshop. Dia is a HulaHoop Ambassador and taught the kids how to make and use the hoops. Now, the streets are full of smiling hoopers!
Natalie, volunteer from England, teaching local high schoolers. The class is full of local buenisimo surfers, they are learning the basic of English and job-training skills to become surf instructors.

Weekend & Back to School

Time to hit the books with preschoolers.
We are practicing our basic handwriting skills:


This weekend, we kayaked and snorkeled around Isla Cabuya. This tour is great for all water-lovers. We meet in Montezuma central and then head south to Cabuya, local fishing village. We hit the water and snorkel amidst beautiful coral reef loaded with colorful, tropical fish. Then, we take a break and hike around the island to learn more about the local floklore and indigenous cementery located on the island. Then, we paddle more and snorkel again...

On the way to Isla Cabuya, you pass this impressive Ficus tree. This year, InBio declared this tree the Tree of the Year. You have to see it in person to appreciate its enormity.

Sunday Surf & Beach Clean Up! On Sunday's we hike to Playa Grande to catch some waves and clean up all the trash that drifts this way.

July Program

We know the parts of the body in English and Spanish now!
